Forming, spiral flute and straight flute taps

  • Forming taps form the thread by displacing the material instead of cutting it, so they make no chips. A forming tap needs a larger drilled hole than a cutting tap; we give the hole size with the quote.
  • Spiral flute taps lift the chips up and out of the hole, which suits blind holes and the long chips of aluminium and copper.
  • Straight flute taps are general-purpose cutting taps.

Which types are available in each size is confirmed with the quote. The coating is chosen for the workpiece material.
