PCD tooling
DELEVEL supplies PCD form reamers, boring heads, milling cutters and other made-to-specification tools for aluminium, copper and other non-ferrous materials, as well as composites.
Typical applications
| High-silicon aluminium | Housings, covers, manifolds |
| Precision bores | Bore finishing with defined tolerance and surface-finish requirements |
| Long production runs | Where tool changes affect cycle time |
| Non-ferrous and composite | Copper, brass, composites, CFRP |
Made to specification
- Form reamers
- Step reamers
- Boring heads
- Cartridges
- PCD milling cutters
- Chamfer tools
- Profile tools
Application example
| Workpiece | Aluminium housing — stepped bore, finishing pass |
| Tool | Custom PCD form reamer, Z=2 |
| Requirement | H7 bore tolerance, Ra 2 μm |
| Geometry | Profile ground to the customer’s drawing |
The H7 and Ra 2 μm values shown here are requirements from this catalogue example, not measured results.
To quote we need
| Material | Workpiece material or alloy; silicon content where relevant |
| Feature | Component drawing, bore or feature dimensions, depth and machining allowance where applicable |
| Requirement | Tolerance and required surface finish |
| Machine | Spindle interface, holder and available reach |
| Volume | Quantity and expected reorder interval |
PCD is not used on steel or cast iron: carbon diffuses into the workpiece at cutting temperature and the edge breaks down. Every PCD tool is made to a written specification, with a drawing sent for your approval beforehand.
For aluminum bore finishing, see our PCD application guide for drawing requirements and the catalogue example.
Solution references: tooling and fixturing we can arrange
Examples of the kind of complete tooling packages we can arrange for aluminium housings and chassis parts — multi-step PCD tools, milling heads and dedicated fixtures — together with our production partners. They are shown as references for what is possible, not as finished DELEVEL projects. Send your part drawing to discuss a solution for your line.
